Shalom Ministry
Dear Shalom Ministry Partners, Thank you so very much for your steadfast prayers and generous giving to this ministry. As of this writing, Donna and I are continuing to immerse ourselves in the field where God has planted us, and we are grateful for your ongoing support. What a joy to be able to share the Gospel with the People of the Book. We are thrilled about the many opportunities that God has given us. God has opened the door for us to minister to a young Jewish man, Joshua, who recently was released from prison. He is now attending our weekly Bible study and worship services as he makes his transition back into the community. Please pray for him as he matures in the Faith. Also, please pray for our Israeli friend Ariel, who is ill at this time and doesn’t know his Messiah yet. Pray for his daughter Michelle and her family, too. We recently met a holocaust survivor, Sara, and we’re asking God to give Donna and me favor and opportunities to share the Good News with her, as well. Pray for Coby – another Israeli and close friend – and his family that they, too, will come to faith in Messiah Yeshua; and pray that God will bless Coby’s new business venture. We continue to pray for salvation for Barry, another Jewish man with whom we know that God is working with. Chauvarah, our support group for Messianic Jewish couples, has completed its first six sessions. We’ll resume our weekly meetings again in April. If you’re aware of any Messianic Jewish couples who might be interested in joining us during the spring session, please let us know. On Saturday, March 7, Congregation Sar Shalom will rejoice in God’s deliverance and salvation of the Jewish people during a special, festive Purim service. The children of the congregation will share the story from the Book of Esther by dressing in costumes representing the biblical heroes Esther and Mordecai – and for those who dare, the evil villain Haman. After the service, the congregation will serve coffee, juice and hamentaschen, traditional Purim cookies. We request your prayers for our Passover presentation at the Church of the Nativity in Livonia on March 22. This will be a special service for people who are unfamiliar with Jewish history and culture and who don’t understand the significance of Christ fulfilling the Passover. Our visit to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills is scheduled for Sunday, April 26. We want to encourage all of you who are interested in attending to contact us and be part of what promises to be an unforgettable afternoon. There is no charge for the tour, but we will make a donation collectively to the Holocaust Memorial. Also in April, Donna and I are planning to serve a special Shabbat meal to several Jewish couples and Gentiles who don’t know the Lord. Most of our guests will be unsaved relatives of members of Congregation Sar Shalom. Please pray for the success of this outreach, as well. Congregation Sar Shalom has received five new members, and we are delighted to welcome them as part of our special ministry to the Jewish community. We’re planning a baptism service this spring, and as of this writing, we have four candidates to baptize. Remember to save the date, Friday, May 29, for the Fourth Annual Shalom Ministry Dessert Reception at Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church. WMUZ Christian talk show host Bob Dutko will be our keynote speaker. We expect a large crowd and suggest that you make every effort to reserve your space by calling our office with your guest list: (248) 545-8800, ext. 28. You certainly won’t want to miss this one! Please pray for Donna and me to remain healthy and vigorous, and that our family is well. We continue to rely on your prayers and financial support in the effort to reach Jews and Gentiles for Yeshua. May God richly bless you for your faithfulness Yours in Messiah’s service,
. John and Donna Denson
